dr Anna Budzanowska

Since 2021 I’m employed as assistant professor at the Cracow University of Economics and as assistant professor the Silesian University in Katowice and I’m an affiliated researcher at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun.  

I cooperated as lecturer with University of Warsaw (2009-2011), Tischner European University (2005-2008), and Chair in Comparative Constitutional Law, Faculty of Law and Administration, Jagiellonian University in Krakow (2003-2008). 

My research profiles are political doctrines and philosophy, public policies in education systems.  

In the field of legal doctrines and political thought, in particular: the ideological traditions of the European freethinkers, the women’s history, secularisation processes, systemic, legal and ideological consequences of the nationalism.  

In the public policymaking: the deliberative processes, climate change and governance in education, higher education and science, of academic institutions, university systems, with reference to the European University Initiative (EUI), university councils.

Coordinator and initiator of the National Council of Science 2016-2018 – participating of the process of academic consultation in which take part about 10.000 academicians, dedicated to prepared the strategy for the legal framework of the transformation in HEIs, international collaboration. Considering my experiences, I already a well – established researcher in higher education, highly internationalised and fully integrated into the academic community. Actively involved in one of the most challenging and innovative reforms of higher education in Europe for the polish higher education system named “Law2.0” (2018-2019). 

For my engagement I awarded the highest polish student’s organizations award – Friend of student 2021.

A very important aspect of my activities is to support women working in the science, technology and innovation sector. #womaninscence can always count on my support. 

• 2016-2019 Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Director General  

O provided organizational, legal and budgetary support to ministry. I supervised the public procurement process and management control. I carried out tasks related to the development of ICT systems security, the cybersecurity policy of the Republic of Poland regarding the science and higher education sector as a user of cyberspace, including the Information Processing Centre PIB. I was the head of the Audit Committee of the academic’s sector.

Champion Euroscience Open Forum 2024 

Currently following the selection by EuroScience Katowice as the organizer of EuroScience Open Forum 2024 (ESOF 2024) and the granting of the title European City of Science, the Major of Katowice and the consortium of the Silesian universities indicated me as a Champion. 

Since February 2022, together with the polish ministry of Higher Education and Science and academia institution and ALIPH International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in conflict areas. I am involved in coordinating the rescue of the Ukrainian refuges and I coordinated the alliance of the protection of the heritage in conflict areas in Ukraine. 

Since COP Katowice 2018, coordinator of the polish panel in the Climate Law and Governance Day 2021. Legal networking Groupe, part of COP Conferences UN. 

President of the Council of the Polish-American Fulbright Commission (2018-2021).
